How we find life in an event that is repeated on a yearly basis is witnessing what it does for those in attendance. Second only to our desire to please the client themselves is our hope for the event to produce its desired result and impact. The audience understands the messaging from start to finish and this only contributes to the event’s success. It was our pleasure to once again provide our services for the highly successful Oceana SeaChange charity gala.

Going Where The Waves Take Us: Oceana Over The Years

On the books since the year prior, we had ample time to prepare for the event of the season: Oceana’s SeaChange Summer Party held in Laguna Beach, California. The previous year’s edition proved to be a wild card as it was moved indoors to the Montage Laguna Beach for the first time in the event’s history.
The switch offered us both new challenges and design opportunities as we painted a different canvas for the night’s festivities. See how that year’s iteration had us thinking outside of the box with our creative event design!
This year, we returned to the roots of this charity gala held in the same backyard of a multi-million dollar oceanview private estate. After last year’s elevated oceanic visual installations, this year we returned to the sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean itself.

Our relationship with Oceana spans over 15 years through multiple event planners and changing leadership from the organization. With our Southern California headquarters located not far from the Pacific Ocean, we truly believe in the organization’s mission.
Oceana is an international advocacy organization that is the largest of its kind to focus exclusively on ocean conservation. Their work zeroes in on the protection and restoration of the oceans having led fundraising campaigns for over 25 years.

The organization’s annual SeaChange Summer Party in its 19th year has raised over $23 million in total support of the ocean’s protection and restoration. This year’s event raised over $1.7 million to support campaigns that fund continued work to guard the world’s oceans.

How Technical Innovation Combines With Charity Gala Ocean Views
Our seasoned crew has mastered the logistical challenges of transporting the AV gear necessary for a large event held at a private residence in a small beach town. Even with the difficulties that the destination presents, we easily see how it’s worth it to have an ocean view when you’re talking about saving the ocean.

Every year, our systems and tactics improve for taking on one of our most logistically challenging annual events. Our team comes alongside other industry vendors with all of the skills, determination and drive necessary to mastering this charity gala.
We have adapted to the challenges over the years such as load-in and load-out on narrow streets with limited parking. We found much-needed efficiencies so our leadership could flourish in working with new employees and crew hired for the day itself.
It was a thrilling success for the entire team as an otherwise complicated show was easy to pull together. Also marking these wins also were the numbers from the evening itself in raising over 1.7 million for ocean restoration. These wins combined made for a spectacular night!

AV Technology Highlights

We provided full AV production services for the evening’s festivities which included the lighting, audio, video, rigging, staging, and stage management. New to this year was the creative development of ways to get more equipment on the lawn without hindering any sight lines or ocean views.

We made it possible to add vertical screens different from previous years with a whale swimming across them during the sit-down dinner. That switch to vertical allowed for more views of the idyllic real-life oceanic background. There is something so much more impactful about not losing the view of the ocean at the iconic SeaChange charity gala.
